Woman on Earth, the lifeline of our fragile existence.

I inquired of my sister which element she would prefer to symbolize her journey, and she selected fire. Out of the flames emerged a Phoenix, and I embellished its image. Rising from the ashes embodies a chapter of her life.

The background is done with a palette knife, a mixture of cold wax and oil paint. The face is done with oil paint, linseed oil and a very fine brush. I experimented with different textures.
