Colors of my soul, beat of my heart in all my art . . .
I believe my art is authentic, genuine, and deeply rooted in emotion. My hope is that potential art buyers and collectors will feel the energy and emotions infused into every piece.
I have always been drawn to painting people, focusing closely on the face to explore deep emotions. A face can tell a story without words, and I believe the eyes—often called the windows to the soul—hold the most powerful expressions. I strive to capture the raw feelings and thoughts of a moment, whether joyful or sorrowful.
One of my most emotional works is a charcoal sketch of my brother, which moved several people to tears. Paired with a poem, the piece became even more profound, as viewers were drawn into the depth of his green eyes.
At times, my paintings include thematic elements surrounding the face, telling a story on their own, or I accompany them with poetry. I hope that people see themselves in my work, finding comfort, connection, or a deeper understanding of their own emotions.
I enjoy working with both vibrant colors and monochromatic tones. A single-color palette can be striking, telling its own story through variations of shade and contrast. Some of my favorite pieces are created in black, white, and grayscale, with a subtle hint of color placed intentionally to draw attention.
I love experimenting with texture paste and cold wax, as they add another layer of emotion and depth to my work. Linseed oil, in particular, creates a softness so tangible that it feels as though you could reach out and touch an angel’s face with your eyes.
I also enjoy painting alla prima, completing a piece in a single sitting. This is when I push the limits with vibrant colors, allowing them to burst with energy like a symphony in motion. The artistic freedom of working this way is exhilarating. The colors lift my mood, and I believe that energy radiates through the painting, allowing viewers to feel it simply by looking.
